MEDITERRANEAN FRIDAYS IV: MIX OF TILED FLOORS OF AN APARTMENT IN BARCELONA

The renovation of this apartment in the neighbourhood of Eixample in Barcelona is a work of the young architect Adrián Elizalde. The most relevant part of the renovation project was what he calls "defoliation": the restoration of the original 1930s building components that were hidden with the passing of time.

And it is precisely those components that are the focus of the room. Different tiled roofs are mixed creating a very interesting geometric interplay that visually divides a space which is actually continuous.

La renovación de este apartamento en el barrio barcelonés de Eixample es obra del joven arquitecto Adrián Elizalde. El proceso más relevante en el proyecto de reforma fue lo que él llama "defoliación": la restauración de los elementos constructivos originales del edificio de 1930 que habían quedado ocultos con el paso del tiempo.

Y son precisamente esos elementos los protagonistas del espacio. Los suelos de diferentes baldosas se entremezclan creando un juego geométrico muy interesante que divide visualmente un espacio en realidad continuo.
