VINTAGE FURNITURE AND CLASSICS OF DESIGN IN AN INDUSTRIAL PARISIAN LOFT

The Parisian loft of Louis and Sarah Bonard is an old office renovated with help of the Italian architect Antonio Virga. A boho-industrial design concept with lots of concrete, brick walls and lacquered-in-black metal doors and windows. The feeling of roughness is soften with delicate and a bit baroque furniture, where classics are mixed with vintage pieces.

El loft parisino de Louis y Sarah Bonard es una antigua oficina renovada con la ayuda del arquitecto italiano Antonio Virga. Un concepto de diseño boho-industrial con mucho hormigón, muros de ladrillo y carpinterías metálicas lacadas en negro. La sensación de aspereza es suavizada con mobiliario delicado y un poco barroco, donde los clásicos se mezclan con piezas vintage.

MEDITERRANEAN FRIDAYS XX: ECLECTIC ART NOUVEAU APARTMENT IN BARCELONA

The house of the designer Elina Vila D'Acosta-Calheiros in Barcelona is a complete lesson of combining classics of design with current furniture without falling into excess or stridency, with the added difficulty of integrating this mixture into an Art Nouveau-style building.

The suite fascinates me, with the right and proper furniture in pure lines and noble materials. The flooring of hydraulic tiles gives a fresh touch to the whole, balancing the moulding and stained glass windows so characteristic of the architecture from Barcelona's early twentieth century.

La casa de la diseñadora Elina Vila D'Acosta-Calheiros en Barcelona es toda una lección sobre cómo combinar clásicos del diseño con mobiliario actual sin caer en el barroquismo o la estridencia, con la dificultad añadida de integrar esta mezcla en un edificio estilo Art Nouveau. 

El dormitorio-baño me fascina, con el mobiliario justo y necesario de líneas puras y materiales nobles. El suelo de baldosas hidraúlicas da un toque actual a todo el conjunto, equilibrando las molduras y vidrieras tan características de esta arquitectura barcelonesa de principios del siglo XX.

A HOUSE FULL OF ICONS

Mie Lerche's house, owner of Lerche design, is an inexhaustible source of iconic designs, where the great masters live together with new and cutting-edge creations. I particularly love the two-sided fireplace that separates the living from the dinning-room.

Some lovely items I know: the Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen, the MFL-1 standing lamp by Serge Mouille, the Klassisk vase from Ditte Fischer and the Butterfly chair by Argentinian architect Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy.

La casa de Mie Lerche, propietaria de Lerche design, es una fuente inagotable de iconos del diseño, donde conviven los grandes maestros con nuevas y punteras creaciones. Particularmente me encanta la chimenea, de doble cara y que divide el salón y el comedor.

Algunos objetos fantásticos que conozco: la silla Egg de Arne Jacobsen, la lámpara de pie MFL-1 de Serge Mouille, el jarrón Klassisk de Ditte Fischer and la silla Butterfly del arquitecto argentino Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy.

ONE FLAT, TWO EAMES

This lovely flat dates from 1900 and is located in the Linnénstaden area of Gothemburg. The living-dining room currently occupies two rooms connected to each other, but it could easily reduce to one unique stay, freeing up space for an extra bedroom. The bright and full of life decorations focus is the Charles and Ray Eames Fiberglass Chair on the two new Vitra versions: the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW- with wooden legs and placed in the dining-room-, and the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR- with metal legs, next to the kitchen table-.

The best: the ceiling plastic frames- from the original building- and the reading corner with the DIY wooden shelves which makes that part of the house useful and nice.

Este encantador apartamento data del año 1900 y está situado en la zona de Linnénstaden, en Gotemburgo. Actualmente el espacio del salón comedor ocupa dos estancias comunicadas entre sí, pero podría convertirse fácilmente en una y disponer así de un dormitorio extra. La decoración, luminosa y llena de vida, tiene como doble protagonista a la silla Fiberglass de Charles y Ray Eames en sus dos versiones renovadas creadas por Vitra: la Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW- con las patas de madera y que aparece en el comedor-, y la Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR- con las patas metálicas, en la mesa de la cocina-.

Lo mejor: las molduras de los techos- de la vivienda original- y el rincón de lectura con los estantes de cajas DIY que hace útil y bonito ese lugar de la casa.

THE SWEET BEGINING

In 1966 and after leaving Sydney Opera project, Jørn and Lis Utzon discovered Mallorca and fell in love with the island. Can Lis was born from that love, a perfect mix of North and South, Nordic and Mediterranean. That same love is the reason for the little adventure I begin today. On Mediterranean Nordic I will talk about design and architecture, showing everything that inspires and moves me.

En 1966 y tras finalizar el proyecto de la Ópera de Sydney Jørn y Lis Utzon descubrieron Mallorca y se enamoraron de ella. Can Lis es el fruto de ese amor, una perfecta combinación entre el norte y el sur, lo nórdico y lo mediterráneo. Ese mismo amor es la razón de ser de esta pequeña aventura que hoy comienzo. En Mediterranean Nordic  hablaré sobre diseño y arquitectura, mostrando todo lo que me inspira y apasiona.
